2007 FOURTH oz. GOLD EAGLE $10 US Gold coin - Brilliant Uncirculated Mint condition.
US mint issued genuine 1/4 ounce gold coin.
This United States Government Mint State genuine Gold coin is in Mint Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Coin contains 1/4 ounce of gold and is minted at the US government's Philadelphia coin mint.
Composition: Although called the quarter ounce or fourth oz Gold Eagle coin, it actually weighs a little over a fourth of a troy ounce.
United States Gold Eagle bullion coins are composed of 91.67% pure gold added to 3% silver and 5.33 % copper. (The silver and copper give the gold coin a hardness against wear.)
If you melted this quarter ounce coin and extracted the gold you would have exactly 1/4 ounce of pure gold, along with silver and copper. So, in a sense, you are getting a little free silver and copper along with your fourth oz. of gold.
Size: Fourth oz American Eagle gold coins are about 22mm in diameter and weight is about 8.48 grams.
Designed by: Augustus Saint-Guadens designed the obverse back in the early 1900's. Milkey Busiek designed the modern day reverse. These bullion US coins have earned the nickname "eagles" due to the Eagles and their eagle's nest featured on the coin's reverse.
